The way that Alice Murray Polson tells the story of how she met her husband is a bit more elaborate. The daughter of a predominant businessman was on a weekend visit from university when her father invited her to dine with him, a few colleagues and a potential business partner. She was drinking a glass of wine when her future husband was introduced to her and the moment she set eyes on him, she was done and she knew it. It didn't matter that she hadn't spent hours on her presentation or that she had a boyfriend she was nearly in love with at university or that he was several months out of an incredibly unhappy engagement; she knew in that moment that this odd son of a fisherman with ginger hair from Kirkwall was the one for her. Their courtship was quick and within seven months of meeting they were engaged, another four months and they were married and another six and they were expecting their first child. A daughter they called Sarah. By the time that William and Alice welcomed their second daughter, Fiona Katherine Murray Polson, into the world in December of 1987; William's charm, wit and luck had pushed his failing shop into a rather successful shop. The family with their two ginger daughters were happy, stable and had recently relocated from a small and cramped two bedroom flat to a renovated house in the same town that William had been raised. Fiona had a rather full and happy childhood filled with many an activity including lessons in piano and guitar that her father had bartered his own wares and services for; in addition, her eagerly anticipated monthly sleep overs that often included her favorite activity reenacting movies and books with her friends well into the wee hours of the morning. Summers meant a short break from school and lessons and meant the yearly trip to visit with her mother's relations for weeks at time. It was during these trips that her granddad would fill her with chocolates and candies, and filling her head with stories about when he was a young man who dreamed of being an actor. The idea of her straight laced grandfather longing to be an actor, always stuck with Fiona in a way that she could never explain. By the time that Fiona was a teenager, the family had relocated to Glasgow and Fiona found herself auditioning for several community theatre productions, including one of the musical Annie, two days later she was at a callback to audition a second time for the role of Annie. She surprised even herself by landing the role of the redheaded orphan, as she had only acted in small school productions of fairy tales and Christmas pageants. Afterwards, Fiona informed her parents that once she finished school, she intended to audition for several acting schools in London and eventually have a try at being a real legitimate actress. William took this it as the whimsical requests of a fifteen year old and shrugged it off as a passing interest. However a year later, the interested hadn't passed and Fiona was finding her way into as many productions as she had time for. With the variety of the lessons she had learned along the way, Fiona was accepted into the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art which she eagerly informed her parents of. With the acceptance from RADA, Fiona packed up her belongings and moved to London to follow her dreams. Encouraged by several of her newly found friends and classmates, Fiona secured an agent and auditioned for small roles in television and film in an effort to gain experience and a small paycheck. Within six months of her arrival in London, she had landed the small roles of Georgiana Darcy in i can tell you a bit about her, she is incredibly friendly to pretty much everyone, she loves getting to know people and is as happy getting to know someone new as she is hanging out with her best friends. she is excitable, so excitable. that up side has the down side that results in her being 'moody' from time to time. she likes to do everything on her own or at least she likes the appearance that she can do everything on her own. and she freely admits that she has zero skills to survive in the real world and often jokes that she would be the first to die in most apocalyptic situations. and of Young Valerie in . While Fiona's love of the stage was incredible, her experience of working on a film was downright intoxicating. It was an addiction to auditions that caused Fiona to continue to crave and seek out the thrill of auditions, rejections, call backs and landing the role through her years at RADA. Upon graduation from RADA, Fiona had a number of small roles on television and film under her belt before what would be a turning point in her career followed her time as one of King Henry's wives on THE TUDORS when her agent called to ask if she was interested in auditioning for the new companion for the new doctor on DOCTOR WHO. After a brief moment, she said 'yes' despite only have a very minuscule knowledge of the show. She was rather surprised when she got the call back for another audition and completely floored when she was told she would be the new companion. After playing Amy Pond for two full series, Fiona had dinner with the producer of Doctor Who to discuss her future as the doctor’s companion and revealed she’d come to the conclusion that she felt it was time for Amy to stop travelling with the Doctor, largely fearing that she would be overstaying her welcome on the show. Over the next several days she worked with the producers on how exactly Amy Pond would leave the show and was firm that the exit had to be a conclusive end with no chance of Amy's return, Fiona felt it could otherwise take away for the impact of the goodbye. The choice to leave was bittersweet, but it did allow for some new opportunities; opportunities that Fiona welcomed with open arms. ... ... ... |
